Joanne Furtsch
Director, Product Policy
Joanne Furtsch is a leading expert in global online privacy practices spanning website, advertising, mobile and application privacy with deep specialization in COPPA and European Union Safe Harbor compliance. Joanne is currently Director of Product Policy at TRUSTe the leading privacy certification and compliance authority on the web. Joanne joined TRUSTe in 1999, and oversaw many operational, policy and product functions, and is responsible for TRUSTe's program requirements that define the basis of the certification products and operations.
Joanne has contributed extensive practical expertise on a number of ground-breaking services TRUSTe offers to customers, including TRUSTed Data Collection certification, TRUSTe's Small Business solution, European Union Safe Harbor Seal program, Email Privacy Seal program, and the Trusted Downloads Program that all help businesses enhance consumer trust, drive increased registrations and transactions, and comply with complex privacy requirements.
Joanne has written on a variety of privacy-related topics including Privacy Advice on Companies Using Social Network Tools, and contributing to TRUSTe's public comments on the FTC Privacy Report and Department of Commerce's Privacy Green Paper. Joanne currently serves on the Privacy Committee for the Mobile Marketing Association co-chairing the Location-based Services working group to develop privacy guidelines for location-based services. Joanne has also served on the Advisory Committee to develop the Recommended Practices on California Information-Sharing Disclosures and Privacy Policy Statements for the California Office of Privacy Protection. She graduated with a B.A. in Finance from California State University, Fullerton, and holds both CIPP and CIPP/C certifications.
Saira Nayak
Director of Policy
Saira is Director of Policy at TRUSTe. In this role, she helps define the company's external policy platform, while advocating the TRUSTe position with industry, regulators, and other stakeholders. Saira also counsels TRUSTe clients, as they innovate around today's exciting technologies, while differentiating themselves from the competition with exemplary data collection and use practices.
Before TRUSTe, Saira was Principal at Nayak Strategies, where she advised digital era companies – including TRUSTe - on privacy and data security compliance under international, US and state laws. While in-house at the Microsoft Corporation, Saira counseled product groups on privacy and data security compliance, and advised on antitrust compliance matters under Microsoft's consent decree with the US Department of Justice and several state AGs. Before Microsoft, Saira practiced at Dickstein Shapiro, (Washington, DC), where she advised AT&T, Pfizer, RIAA and other clients on antitrust and consumer protection issues. Saira also served as Antitrust Counsel for the National Association of Attorneys General ("NAAG"), where she worked on multistate antitrust investigations and litigation brought by state AG offices.
Saira, a native of San Francisco, California, received her undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco in 1994, and her J.D. from Boston University in 1998. Saira is licensed to practice in California, DC and before the US Supreme Court. She is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional ("CIPP"). Saira has served as a Vice-Chair on the ABA Antitrust Section's Privacy & Data Security Committee since 2010, and is currently leading the team of privacy practitioners that are revising the ABA Antitrust Section's Consumer Data Handbook.
Chris Babel
Chief Executive Officer
Chris Babel is the CEO of TRUSTe, the leading trustmark and recognized authority on Internet trust and privacy. Chris possesses over a decade of experience building online trust, most recently as Senior Vice President and General Manager of VeriSign's worldwide Authentication Services business, where he was responsible for strategy, sales, marketing, product and support.
Chris also previously managed VeriSign's SSL and Managed Security Services business. In these roles he helped grow the businesses though the launch of new products to enterprise and small/medium businesses, international expansion in EMEA and Asia and through acquisition and integration of a number of companies. Chris also spent time in Corporate Development and as Chief of Staff to the CEO where he led strategic planning and execution of over 20 acquisitions.
Prior to joining VeriSign, Chris served as an Associate in Morgan Stanley's Technology Mergers and Acquisitions group and its Corporate Finance group working on transactions like Netscape's sale to AOL.
Chris holds a BA in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences and Economics with Highest Distinction from Northwestern University and lives with his wife and three sons in San Francisco.
Tim Sullivan
Chief Financial Office
Tim brings to TRUSTe over 15 years of financial and strategic management expertise with technology companies. Prior to joining TRUSTe, Tim was a Managing Director in Morgan Stanley's Technology Group. At Morgan Stanley, Tim worked with the full spectrum of technology companies -- computer hardware, software, internet, semiconductor and semiconductor capital equipment, and contract manufacturing -- and spent several years as the Co-Head of its Global Semiconductor Practice. Tim helped his clients raise over $12 billion in equity and debt financings and advised on over $20 billion in strategic mergers and acquisitions. His clients included Intel, nVidia, Xilinx, Applied Materials, Agilent, Sanmina and Rambus.
Tim has a BS in Business Administration with Honors from the University of California, Berkeley.
Patricia Neuray
Vice President of Sales
As Vice President of National Sales, Patricia oversees sales to Enterprise and SMB clients and their advertising agencies as well as networks and technology platforms. Her team’s focus is to provide a full suite of privacy management solutions in order to help companies navigate an increasingly complex privacy landscape.
Patricia has a deep background in digital sales and marketing. She has held senior management positions for the last 15 years both in online and offline sales and marketing. Prior to TRUSTe, Patricia was at Business.com where she was the Senior Vice President of National Ad Sales and Customer Marketing. Prior to that, Patricia worked for a division of Monster.com where she was SVP of New Business Development at TMP Worldwide and managed a large national team. At Yahoo, she was Vice President of Search and was responsible for more than $300 million in annual revenue. Patricia began her career in advertising sales and marketing for a variety of technology and news publications such as Newsweek. She also launched and was the publisher of a Mac magazine when she worked for Imagine Media.

Dave Deasy
Vice President of Marketing
Dave Deasy is VP of Marketing and brings over 20 years of experience in software, e-commerce, online media, and privacy management markets to TRUSTe. Dave has extensive experience building, launching, and growing businesses in consumer, small business, and enterprise markets.
Prior to joining TRUSTe, Dave was SVP Marketing & Sales for the consumer software business at Phoenix Technologies. Prior to Phoenix, Dave was VP SaaS Marketing and GM of the Zoomerang Online Survey business at MarketTools. Dave also founded and sold an e-commerce business, helped build the AOL Small Business Unit, built and launched HP’s Consumer E-Commerce Channel, and led an enterprise services marketing organization at HP. Dave holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
Ken Okumura
Vice President of Engineering
As Vice President of Engineering Ken is responsible for TRUSTe's engineering technology and operations. Ken brings to TRUSTe over 20 years of experience building and scaling core Internet infrastructure in security, commerce, and communications.
Most recently Ken led engineering efforts at Qualys, a company specializing in vulnerability management. Prior to that, Ken was at Google following its acquisition of Postini, where he was responsible for building its messaging security and management systems. Prior to Postini, Ken spent eight years at VeriSign developing and managing its cryptographic, PKI and payments systems infrastructure. Earlier in his career, he held engineering management positions at VISA and GTE. Ken has a Bachelor of Architecture and BS in Computer Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Kevin Trilli
Vice President of Product Management
Kevin brings over 15 years of high-tech product management and entrepreneurial experience to TRUSTe and is an industry thought leader around online identity, reputation and trust.
Prior to TRUSTe, Kevin founded AssertID, a technology company that provides identity- and age-verification services for social networks. Previously, Kevin spent eight years at VeriSign, including as director of product management for the SSL, authentication and security services business units. Kevin holds multiple patents and patent applications in online identity.Before joining the Internet industry, Kevin held positions in the semiconductor and chemical industries in product management, product development, engineering and operations.
Kevin has a Masters of Science in Management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he is a Sloan Fellow. Kevin also holds a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he concurrently served as a lab administrator for the University Computer Services Organization.
Rich Qiu
Vice President of Business Development, Mobile
Richard is responsible for identifying, developing and executing on new business opportunities in areas of online privacy, mobile media, online advertising and data management at TRUSTe. An expert in mobile, digital media and advertising, Richard has extensive experience in launching new products, developing new markets and building successful business. Most recently, Richard was EVP of Business Development at 4INFO and a key figure in shaping 4INFO's growth from a messaging powerhouse to a diversified mobile advertising, technology and media company, and instrumental in driving its platform strategy and the direction of mobile publishing and advertising.
Prior to 4INFO, Richard was VP of Worldwide Business Development at FanBox, a mobile data and billing company that pioneered mobile social community. Prior to that, Richard was AVP of business and client development for BeVocal, where he was responsible for key customer and strategic partnerships with telecommunications carriers, cable operators and media businesses. Prior to BeVocal, Richard has also spearheaded business development and sales at Yodlee. Earlier, Richard was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company. Richard holds a MBA from the University of Chicago and a PhD in Engineering from the Vanderbilt University.
Bo Wilson
Vice President of Customer Support
Bo brings more than 15 years of management and operational experience in enhancing online trust to TRUSTe. As the Vice President of Customer Support, Bo is responsible for the certification and compliance functions for TRUSTe products. His passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement drives teams to define and implement solutions that will enhance TRUSTe’s effectiveness and relevance for customers and consumers.
Prior to TRUSTe, Bo has held management positions at VeriSign, Silicon Graphics, Maxtor and IBM. He was Managing Director of Thawte Consulting, which was a VeriSign acquisition that was headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa. Under his three year leadership, Thawte’s global annual revenues doubled from $12M to $25M while operational unit costs and customer satisfaction significantly improved. Bo has a BSME in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Harvard University.
Pat Schoof

Pat Schoof is TRUSTe's Head of Human Resources and brings over 20 years experience in the full spectrum of Human Resources in global high tech, solar and retail companies.
Pat has played leading roles in dramatic organizational changes, including multiple IPO's (SFLY, CRM) as well as guiding organizations tM&A's and reorganizations.Pat has a strong focus on compensation, HRIS, coaching & development, team building and building a dynamic value based cultures in growing fast-paced environments.
Pat has worked at some high profile companies including McAfee, salesforce , The North Face and Shutterfly. Pat holds a BS in Psychology from the University of Santa Clara.
Danilo Labovic
Managing Director EMEA
Danilo Labovic is TRUSTe's EMEA Managing Director with 12+ years of international sales and management experience in the online industry. Prior to joining TRUSTe, Danilo started his career at Reuters (now Thompson Reuters) playing a key role in building Reuters' e-commerce platform and strategy as well as setting up and running the sales organization supporting the sales of Reuters' web based financial services across the EMEA region.
Further on, Danilo moved to VeriSign initially managing VeriSign's UKI & Southern European SSL encryption & trust-mark business, to then take on a senior management position with EMEA sales responsibilities. Subsequently he became VeriSign's European Sales Director with full accountability across all products within VeriSign's authentication security services.
Over the last few years and prior to moving to TRUSTe, Danilo was Symantec's EMEA Enterprise Sales Director for their Trust Services business unit.
Fran Maier
Founder and Chair of the Board
Fran Maier is Founder and Chair of the Board of TRUSTe. Since 1994, Fran has focused on building online brands and enhancing consumer trust online.
Fran joined TRUSTe in 2001 and drove the expansion of TRUSTe's business, product portfolio and brand. Fran was instrumental in the policy and product development of TRUSTed Downloads, TRUSTed Ads, and to TRUSTe's flagship TRUSTed Websites program. In 2008, under her leadership, TRUSTe secured significant investment capital to transform TRUSTe from a non-profit industry association to a for-profit growth enterprise.
As a co-founder and general manager of Match.com, Fran established credibility, safety, and trust in online dating, making Match.com the leading online dating service. In executive marketing roles at Women.com and Kmart's BlueLight.com subsidiary, Fran both established online start-up brands and brought blue-chip offline brands onto the Internet. Earlier in her career, she held brand management roles at the Clorox Company and California's Automobile Association. In addition to her expertise in online privacy, she is also known for her expertise in brand building, online marketing, and marketing to women.
Fran speaks and writes widely on issues of online privacy, security, and trust and frequently represents TRUSTe in front of domestic and foreign regulatory audiences, including the Federal Trade Commission, Congressional committees, and foreign data protection commissioners. In 2009, Fran won a Stevie Award for Women in Business for Best Executive in the category of Service Businesses with less than 100 employees. In 2010, AlwaysOn named Fran among the Top 25 Women in Tech to Watch in Silicon Valley. In 2011, San Francisco Business Times named Fran among the 150 Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business.
In addition to TRUSTe's board, Fran serves on a number of Internet, community, and trust-related advisory boards. She is also active in mentoring women in technology.
Fran holds a BA and MBA from Stanford University and lives in San Francisco.
